Clearview fits and supplies almost every kind of extension, ranging from conservatories and orangeries to home and kitchen extensions. One form of extension we don’t do at Clearview are modular extensions and there are several reasons behind that.
Notice that word ‘almost’...
If you’ve never heard of modular extensions, they’re easily explained as they’re prefabricated extensions – extensions largely built in a factory before being transferred to the required location for fitting.
Because they’re pre-built, it hardly takes any time to install them, which is good if you want things done fast and the builders in and out of your house as quickly as possible.
They cost less than a traditionally built extension...
But we’re so adverse to them because they aren’t built to the same standard as a normal extension, using lesser materials and reduced manpower. Something constructed so rapidly can never come close to the build quality of a conservatory or orangery which are both laboriously constructed with high-grade resources.
We’d also never be able to provide our usual 20-year guarantee with a modular extension as it’s improbable that it would last for that long.
And you’d have little chance of being able to adapt a modular extension to fit your requirements. Customisation options are very much limited.
It could hinder any future sale of your house...
Modular extensions are non-standard constructions as they’re not made from bricks and mortar and it can be difficult for a buyer to get a mortgage for a property with a non-standard construction. Would you want your home languishing on the market, all for the sake of a modular extension, when you just want it sold?
