There comes a time in every household where the homeowner will feel like it’s time to make a change to the way that the inside of their house looks.

Orangery Living

Whether it be a new paint job in your living room, tiles in your bathroom or some new furniture in your conservatory.

Everyone gets bored of how things look in their house, that’s why decorators are in a job. Well, why not save yourself the cost of a decorator and do things yourself and we’ll give you plenty of pointers and tips in this list of some of the top interior design trends of 2014.

Corduroy Upholstery

This is perhaps something you’d be more used to seeing a supply teacher wearing on the elbows of his blazer, or maybe you’d expect to see your granddad in a pair of corduroy pants? Well, either it way it doesn’t matter.

What does matter though is that this year, corduroy is a great material for making couches and various other items of upholstery.

Shades of Blue

The official colour of 2014, according to Pantone, is radiant orchid but that doesn’t mean to say that it’s going to be the most popular colour of the year.

In fact, it’s more than likely going to be a bit of a blue year this year. Cobalt, navy and light blue will be some of the colours that will be very big on the interior design scene this coming year.

Dark Accent Walls

In the last few years a lot of people have opted for the light, bright look in some rooms in their house but this year will begin to signal a change to that.

In 2014, there’s going to be a lot more rooms around that will be filled with dark colours but still be very glamorous. All of the dark walls will also be great for any metallic accessories too.
