Energy Bill Cuts Deemed Unlikely

Homeowners who have their energy supplied by Ovo Energy have been celebrating after the energy firm announced a 4.5 per cent price cut for customers. This has led to optimism amongst others that the news would lead to other energy companies following suit, but experts have dampened those hopes by claiming that energy prices are more likely to rise than fall.

Director at, Mark Todd, has said:

“Any cuts are welcome but it’s important to realise on the whole, the cheapest deals are still £24 more expensive than they were in January this year. The tide could easily turn and consumers should be prepared for possible rises in the run up to winter.”

It is once again being recommended that homeowners look to switch energy suppliers as millions of people are missing out on energy savings by persisting with their existing supplier. There are a whole host of short-term and long-term tariffs available which can massively cut the cost of energy.

Finding a cheaper tariff is best done by visiting one of the many online energy comparison websites where a thorough search of the vast majority of the energy market can be completed. Taking up an online tariff can particularly help you save a substantial amount of money, as can opting for bills to be received online rather than in paper form.

Once you have found the tariff that gives you the best value for money, you can then look into ways of improving your home further so that a higher level of energy efficiency is achieved. Windows and doors should be replaced and you should make a conscious effort to use less energy.
