Dulux may deny our suspicions, but we have a sneaky feeling that last year’s smash-hit film, Barbie, helped them decide their 2024 Colour of the Year – Sweet Embrace™.
Sweet Embrace™ isn’t like her go-to dazzling pink, but a far more softened blossom pink with a trace of blue-grey. They’ve explained their selection and put it down to wanting a shade that is at odds with the frantic world we inhabit and will foster calmness in our indoor areas.
It’s muted enough to colour drench a room with the hue, or use it sparingly in your rugs, vases, scatter cushions etc. Alternatively, create an accent wall by coating it in Sweet Embrace™.
Retro Interiors
Get ready to turn back time and relive the glory days of the 70’s because retro interiors are going to be all the rage.
Welcome the return of carpets and wall covers adorning geometric patterns, natural wood dressing tables and bureaus, fabrics in luxurious velvet, and wall tiles evocative of the era of the space hopper, as we seek comfort in this uncertain period.
Clearview’s cottage windows may not date from the 70’s, however they do fit into the retro mould having been created to replicate the styling and character of 19th century timber windows.
Curvy Mirrors
The fashionability of mirrors never fades and 2024 is the year of adding statement curved mirrors to the walls in your lounge, bathroom and hallway.
Crazily shaped mirrors cannot fail to capture the imagination and have all eyes drawn to them, which is rarely true of mirrors in normal square or rectangular form.
Places such as your local charity shop or furniture store is likely to have a good selection of mirrors in many shapes, sizes and materials. Buy one large mirror for a dominant wall or a series of smaller mirrors to display alongside each other in a cluster.
